Consumer Trend:
High Fiber Foods

Fiber is actively sought by consumers on food labels. Dietary fiber improves digestive health and can provide a feeling of fullness or satiety. In the diet, fiber can act as a prebiotic to stimulate fermentation in the colon. Recent research has shown that fiber may help reduce blood pressure, lower cholesterol and protect against the onset of several types of cancers.

A recent addition to the TruBran® family of fibers at Grain Processing Corporation is TruBran® F80T oat fiber. This ingredient has a light tan color, a clean flavor profile and a minimum of 80% total dietary fiber which makes it easy to incorporate in a wide variety of foods and supplements.

In most food formulations, TruBran® F80T oat fiber can be used at levels between 1% and 15%. In extruded snacks and cereals, oat fiber blends well with cornmeal and flours and is easy to process through the extruder. Grain Processing Corporation has several bakery and snack formulations available which contain TruBran® F80T oat fiber at a level that provides an excellent source of fiber.
