Grain Processing Corporation Invests to Support International Growth
U.S. manufacturer invests in major expansions to continue servicing a growing number of overseas customers who are demanding the best quality in the world.
Grain Processing Corporation (GPC), a member of the Kent Corporation family of companies, is now manufacturing significantly more of the high-quality alcohol at its plants in Muscatine, Iowa and Washington, Indiana. In addition, GPC is in the midst of a major, multi-million dollar expansion of MALTRIN® maltodextrins capacity at one of our current manufacturing sites. GPC is one of the leading global manufacturers of maltodextrins.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, GPC has supported the manufacture of millions of gallons of ethyl alcohol to support the production of essential products in the fight against COVID-19 including: hand sanitizers, disinfectants, cleaners and surfactants, mouthwash, cough & cold medicines, active pharma ingredients, vaccine components and COVID-19 testing reagents.
To meet increased demand for high-purity alcohol amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the distillery expansion project timeline was successfully compressed by nearly eight months and completed early as a result of dedication, expertise and flexibility. The original start-up date was July 2021. “The accelerated completion of the distillery during the pandemic will go down as one of Kent Corporation’s greatest success stories during very challenging circumstances,” said Patrick Homoelle, President of GPC.
In addition to the distillery expansion, GPC will continue to improve its ability to serve domestic and international maltodextrin customers via an expansion of capacity at one of our key U.S. manufacturing sites. MALTRIN® maltodextrins are high-quality, corn-based ingredients used in numerous food, nutraceutical and personal care applications. They function as effective carriers, binders, coating and bulking agents as well as having the ability to manage sweetness and viscosity.
Together, these expansions will enable GPC to continue to deliver world-class service to the U.S. market, while enabling continued growth internationally among customers who want the best quality in the world. GPC currently distributes products in over 60 countries and maintains offices around the world. When completed, these investments will set the stage for continued worldwide success of this proudly U.S.-based corporation in the coming years and decades.
