GPC Selects Site for Major MALTRIN® Maltodextrin Expansion
Grain Processing Corporation (GPC) recently announced their Daviess County Washington, Indiana, plant complex will be the site for the new multimillion dollar MALTRIN® maltodextrins capacity expansion.
“The selection of our Washington, Indiana, site for this new multimillion dollar expansion was due to several factors. The business friendly leadership of Indiana Governor Pence and his economic development team showed us they were committed to helping GPC grow,” said Gage A. Kent, CEO and Chairman of Kent Corporation. “We were also impressed with the local economic development team and the community members who demonstrated they really wanted us to expand our Washington facilities.”
The overall MALTRIN® maltodextrins multi-year expansion project represents a significant capital investment for GPC – the largest expansion at the Washington Plant since it started operations. GPC will now finalize the engineering design and request the necessary permits to begin the construction phase of the additional finishing capacity. Dozens of jobs will be added during the construction of the expansion, in addition to new production jobs when the project is operational in the next few years.
“GPC is committed to expanding production of MALTRIN® maltodextrins to meet the rapidly growing global demand for our products,” said John Thorpe, President, GPC. “GPC Washington, built just over 15 years ago as a state-of-the-art corn wet milling facility, has been an important investment in meeting the demands for an uninterrupted supply of high quality products for our customers. We are confident the entire employee team at Washington, along with Indiana state and local teams, will accomplish this expansion as quickly as possible. Although we did not select the local Muscatine community this time, Muscatine will be considered for future expansion opportunities.”
